The miscaptioned video circulated online after Israeli troops entered the Al Shifa hospital on Nov. 15 after a days-long siege. Israeli forces say that the hospital covers tunnels used by the Islamist group Hamas, a claim that has been denied by the group, Reuters reported. “Israeli forces shooting inside al shifa hospital” read posts sharing the old video on social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter (archived). A video of a red-coloured lake in Chile has been falsely claimed online to show the River Nile, with some users suggesting it's a sign of “the end times”. “You mean to tell me on November 9, 2023, the Nile river looks like this,” said one person who added a voiceover to the clip and shared it to social media (archived). However, the video shows a lake in Chile that is famed for its red colour, not the River Nile. Reuters found no reports or corroborating visuals of the River Nile, which stretches across northeastern Africa, turning red on Nov. 9. The video show Laguna Roja in Chile, not the River Nile.

Comparison online of the way Britain’s party leaders held their poppy wreaths on Remembrance Sunday has sparked a false claim that the Scottish National Party’s (SNP) Westminster leader Stephen Flynn held his garland upside down. In an X post (archived) on Nov. 14, Flynn said his wreath was made by Lady Haig’s Poppy Factory in Edinburgh, Scotland. Lady Haig’s Poppy Factory told Reuters that the card was placed at the bottom of the wreath. There are also differences in the designs of poppies, the Scottish National War Memorial spokesperson said. Stephen Flynn held his wreath the correct way up on Remembrance Sunday, according to the wreath maker, who said the card was deliberately placed at the bottom.

A post (archived) on social media said: “President Xi is patiently waiting for President Biden to turn around his body” and “To respect old people is a virtue in China.” The accompanying image shows Biden facing toward his right, with his hand out, while Xi is on Biden’s left. Reuters footage of the same scene does not show Biden turning his back on Xi at any point during the exchange, however. Biden’s posture, facial expressions and hand placement in the altered image also match the 19-second timestamp where he reaches out to shake Xi’s hand, but with the image flopped so that Biden is facing away from Xi. Biden did not turn his back on Xi while welcoming him at the Filoli estate in California, according to footage of the scene from multiple news outlets.

A Facebook user (archived) sharing the video on Nov. 1 wrote: “Israeli military are conducting a war crime on the ground operation in Gaza they're doing exactly what Hitler did to them. Please share it.” Text on the clip reads that Israeli ground troops were conducting a “genocide roundup”. But the video, which shows men in military fatigues shooting blindfolded men in civilian clothes, is unrelated to events in Gaza in 2023. The clip was captured in Syria in 2013, according to researchers who investigated it when it was leaked to them in 2019.
